There are many. If I were to pick an historical figure: Albert Schweitzer. A renaissance man of varied skills, talents and interests, he provided a balanced view of the origins of Christianity, the disdain for Colonialism, the constructive critique of the concept of "Peace" and his ability to serve mankind and still live a rich, fulfilling life.
His endeavors likely would be difficult if not impossible to replicate in the modern world, but at a time between various wars, and injustices, he really accomplished a lot.

I would have to say that my wife of 30 years has the most influence on my life.

Islam!
it taught me love, respect, knowledge, rational and reasonable thinking, humanity, and it taught me to stay happy & patient in hard times.
it gave me individual as well as system wide guide lines to get the best out of my life for humanity!
