Sony Xperia Z2 Virgin sim won't work?

I just brought a sim free unlocked z2. My virgin sim will not work in it. It will download the usual mms/Internet settings, but I cannot automatically or manually search for a network. Nothing comes up, even networks that I know should come up. The status bar icon shows empty signal with a red cross!

Is it the type of sim? Could it be because virgin does not support 4G? Or does my phone have a problem?

I have searched high and low for answers but nothing helps!

Virgin is CDMA and the SIM you're using from Virgin is for 3G-4G devices and not meant for phones. So, you just wasted money buying the unlocked Sony Xperia Z2 coz it's not compatible with Virgin. Sell it and get a different phone which has CDMA capability and I don't think Z2 is available in CDMA version. If you need help with getting the right phone at reasonable price, mail me.

Virgin is a CDMA carrier, running on top of Sprint's network. Having your phone unlocked has nothing to do with CDMA, only GSM.

A CDMA phone requires firmware specific to the carrier you wish to use. You cannot just go to Sprint with a Virgin phone and have them turn it on. You cannot take a GSM phone to a CDMA carrier at all.

You need to find out exactly how the Z2 is set up, GSM or CDMA. If it is CDMA, you need to find out for what carrier. If different than Virgin, you then need to have the phone firmware "flashed" to work with Virgin.

The phone isn't fully unlocked. There's still a restriction on connectivity.
