In Numbers 31 God apparently treats women exactly the same as livestock.

Of course, it's only because he was invented by people who treat women as livestock.

Rape has nothing to do with God today and as well has in the 1st Century? God warned of the consequences that would come upon Israel if the people disobeyed his law. He foretold that, besides suffering and calamities, they would fall into the hands of their enemies, De 28:30

This took place when, because of their disobedience, God removed his protection from the nation and the 'pagan enemies overran their cities. (Zec 14:2)

People are responsible for Rape, not God.

Omfg.. What's wrong with people. I swear I'd have to post that comment about the new covenant Every day to shut people up.

Critics of the Bible often cite Old Testament instances of slavery, violence against homosexuals, wiping out nations, etc., as evidence of a morally inadequate set of rules. They will also often ask why present-day Christians don't follow these "barbaric" teachings today. They complain that Christians are inconsistent and say that if we really follow the Bible, then why don't we advocate such things as killing both homosexuals (Lev. 20:13) and disobedient children (Deut. 21:18-21).

The reason we don't is that the Old Covenantal system, that involved such harsh punishments, has been done away with. We are under a new covenant.

So stop making youself look ignorant.

Amazing : this is what happens when someone reads the bible and still has a world mentality. You hear many people talk about rape, It does not condone rape , it does not condone slavery ,it does not condone violence, it does not condone lots of things people have objections too and that God certainly objects too. God and (Jesus) in the new testament deals with mindsets , attitudes and intents, their are lots of things specifically not mentioned in the bible that one might deal with today, because he was dealing with the way we think which dictates the way we act. people already owned slaves, he didn't condone slavery he said if you have them, if you have the authority over them accept responsibility to ensure they are treated correctly as you would like to be treated if you were the one in that place, in the case someone raped another (that one that raped was to make it right by the person. pay a dowry , marry or whatever was pleasing to the victim. (which the most pleasing obviously would have been that it not have taken place. ( as well as violence towards another make it right repent and recompense for the crime.) these things are mindsets. Jesus dealt with this,(world evens says don't betray a spouse and commit adultery and jesus dealt with the mindset if you look upon a woman to lust after her; you already have committed the act against that person *mindset" so someone who would repeatedly do this in their minds will eventually commit the natural act so again here's an example lots of folks speak of (* ex: God tells Abraham "offer up Issac as a burnt sacrifice, and Abraham did exactly what most people do they take what God said to do and with their understanding and experiences of life decide this is what God said to do. ) "burnt sacrifice" : to be used completely spent in totality by and only unto the lord, so all God said was dedicate your son wholly and completely for my service and because Abraham's experiences was idol worship where children were burnt unto idols' ; (which God forbid men to do; that children were an inheritance) it was Abraham's experiences that skewed what God had asked him to do. so again people all throughout the bible did this same thing and still do today. God and Jesus simply dealt with mindsets , attitudes and intents of the heart. Change the heart, Change the man and we will understand and do that which is right.

    Begs the question fallacy.

Law of Moses made forcible rape punishable by death - This is certainly sufficient to dismiss your premise that the Christian God condones rape. In fact it makes your premise nonsensical. Interpolating rape into the text when it is not actually there - well that is just typical atheist dishonesty.

The lawbooks of the United States are filled with rape.

Are you saying that the United States judiciary and legislature condones it?

The Jewish part of the Christian Bible is the laws and history of ancient Israel.

The laws discuss rape by way of forbidding it and the several stories of rape are by way of discussing problems in human society and in many cases points out the horrid results to the rapist and anyone supporting him

(cf. the story of the rape of Dinah in Genesis and the rape of Tamar in Samuel)

    1. There is no 'Christian God', God is one. He is above religion. No religion can bind him. Jesus revealed God to us. The teaching of Jesus is recorded in only 4 books of the Bible - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Read these 4 books and understand God.

    2. God does not condone rape.

    3. From your statement it appears that you have not read the books of the Bible.

God does not condone rape and it is not rampant in the Bible. Quit listening to men and actually read the thing.

Because it was written by men in a patriarchal society.

I see you don't know what "condone" means - or that you're a liar.
