Why would a guy running for congress lie about being a Marine?

Just saw a Tv ad for a guy running for Congress boasting he joined the Marines & was a Surgeon in Iraq. The USMC have no Medical personnel. Why lie you were in the Navy?

This seems a lot more complex than just one group or another, he was in the Navy, but working for the Marines. You seem to think that there are no doctors for Marines, and that's not true, they are a fighting force, but they are cared for by the Navy. There are Marines stationed on Navy ships too, but they also aren't in the Navy.A Marine physician is actually a U.S. Navy (USN) doctor. Marines get their health care needs from Navy physicians, corpsmen and other healthcare providers

This man has nothing to apologize for, from your article....

As a Battalion Surgeon for the 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment Marine Corps Infantry, Manan was among the first US ground forces to enter Iraq. He served on the frontlines of battle, commanding a medical team that cared for over 1,200 of our troops and hundreds of Iraqi civilians. For his service, Lt. Commander Trivedi earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Commendation Medal, and his unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

He won a Navy Commendation medal. He was a Battalion Surgeon for the Marines. Why isn't that clear to you?

He's not looking to try and impress people by being in the Marines instead of the Navy. Especially when he's running against a candidate that has never seen any military service at all.

I'm not sure its fair to say he outright lied. And I don't want to get hung up on semantics. If he was a Navy surgeon/doctor/corpsman/etc. assigned to a US Marine unit he (in my opinion) could consider himself a Marine. While that does NOT make him a Marine, it does offer another way to look at it. If he clearly tried to pass himself off as a Marine that is an altogether other matter. But I don't know what was said or the context it was said in. On the page you linked to it does not make the claim he was a Marine. Only that he was a Surgeon assigned to a Marine unit. And it was pretty clear to me from that link he was in the Navy.

In the article you linked to it says (if you are familiar with Marine and Navy ranks) he was in the Navy, no where did I see where HE said he was a Marine when he was a Doctor in Iraq. And I am saying this not knowing if the guy is a democrat or republican.

For the same reason an Arab gay Muslim man who drinks beer and smokes cigarettes, pot and crack would pretend to be half white and half black, a Christian family man... but he has a blood type found common only among Arabs and Basques... says he doesn't give his children Christmas gifts because he doesn't want to spoil them, and some say his wife might be transgender or a sex change.

SO PEOPLE WILL vOTE FOR HIM when they wouldn't vote for him if he is honest.

    (I don't know!)t while he is aned with A

Perhaps he doesn't want people to know that he is gay. The Marines consist of 90% homosexual men the other 10% are asexual..

It is disgusting isn't it , there are these types that think they can lie about the service like anything else and would you believe a court in one case said it was not illegal. I had the hardest time writing this and not getting vulgar because it makes me really pissed off. For those who don't like my answer, seriously I do not care what you like or dislike. I choose to talk about the issue she raised about those who fake a military history.
