What is the deal with feminism?
I honestly can call myself a feminist even though I understand some of the things in feminism aren't right, but why do people hate feminists so much?
I believe that it is not men's fault for seeing women as objects when we wear slutty outfits because wearing close to nothing isn't exactly showing off our personality like some women say it is. Men don't walk around the streets wearing underwear and nothing else and if they did, women wouldn't look at them and say 'I bet he has a great personality' so why should us women get upset when men see us like this???
I believe that men should be getting the blame for sexual abuse and rape though. Surely they can hold themselves back enough not to cat call some women that passes just because they think she's hot. For gods' sake what do they think the women's going to do? Turn around and make out with them?
I also believe that men aren't aloud to be weak and that is very wrong to me. Why should men be expected to be strong and to be called gay I they show even a little sign of weakness?
I don't know, I just don't understand why some women and most men hate feminism, because we don't just fight for rights for women, we fight for men's rights as well

Yeah? I honestly can call myself a neonazi even though I understand some of the things in neonazism aren't right. Sure, a lot of the people in neonazism seem preoccupied with racism against all non white people BUT they make great barbecued chicken so I call myself a neonazi.
" I believe that men should be getting the blame for sexual abuse and rape though. "
---yes, when a 30 year old teacher rapes a 13 year old male student, it's the fault of the student, clearly. He seduced her with his crafty ways. Then again, this means that 13 year old boys can outsmart 30 year old women so...
Oh, and catcalling. Yeah, 'my body, my choice' is good enough to kill the unborn but good enough to guarantee free speech? Oh hell no! Men shouldn't be allowed to speak in the presence of women. Period. No speaking from men. Heck, we should make special hours where men come outside and do all the work and then go back inside into giant compounds so the women can enjoy the fruits of the men's labor. Any other bright ideas?
" I also believe that men aren't aloud to be weak and that is very wrong to me."
---yes, the only suffering men get is that they're not allowed to be more like women. And yet... women are oppressed for being women. OK. Whatever.
"... we fight for men's rights as well"
---you fight for men's rights? Then please stop b/c you really really really really suck at it. If feminism was a doctor, it would prescribe cyanide to men who came in with head colds.

There seems to always be a counter argument with any issue....and regarding the men hating feminists.....they all know that for hundreds of years, women were put down to the point that they weren't allowed to be autonomous...now things have improved astronomically....so some of the reason that these haters despise feminism, is because they are angry that women have been given rights and privileges that they alone had many years ago, and if they had any say in it, we women would have all been locked into oppression. They resent that women are equal citizens here in my country, as though they are losing their ground, by women catching up with them.
Also, I've noticed in this world that there seems to be some unseen competition as to who has suffered the most grief....its like its a contest of something, and the person who share the most stories about how there life sucks gets some invisible prize. Other haters of feminism, simply sublimate their hatred of women into a political platform in the name of "anti feminism" to hide that they simply hate women, in general. I could go on, ....but I'm tired and I gotta shut this puter off and get some sleep.

"What is the deal with feminism?"
Feminism is not what it used to be, that's the deal. It started as the "women's rights movement" that was seeking for women to obtain legal Rights that were equal to men back in a time when this was not the case. This was an honourable endeavour and one that most people stood behind, and made happen. A historical achievement.
But after this occurred, the feminist movement was hijacked by the radicals. Too many man-hating statements made by too many prominent feminists have gone unchallenged by mainstream feminists for the movement to be taken seriously as one that claims to be fighting for equality of the genders any more. This has carried on for decades now and at this point, the movement is too far down this road to recover. And if one cares to look, it appears that their mode of operation is one of fostering gender division and gender war where they can claim either superiority or victim hood, whichever one seems to work at the moment.
Surprisingly, a few respondents here have it all wrong and simply parrot back the feminist narrative that states that "privileged' men are afraid of women who have equal rights, and would like to go back to a model from the ancient past that would remove those rights for women and oppress them back into the kitchen, or some other ridiculous notion. While this narrative may make them feel better by negating any notion of culpability for our currently dis functional society, it does not remove the responsibility of those that support the current crop of misandric feminists and their mainstream movement that divides the genders and keeps us from supporting each other into obtaining true equality.
From the link:
"When some of the most prominent feminists and famous women make openly hateful anti-male statements, and the mainstream feminist organizations say and do nothing to distance themselves from such public statements, then it’s clear that the hatred of men has an accepted place in mainstream feminism."
"One of the main problems with “feminism” is that it exploits the legitimate claims of equal rights as a cloak to usher in its divisive, hateful and neurotic interests. Interests that are plainly anti-male and not at all about equal rights."

I would think it's rather obvious.
Feminism is in direct conflict with a culture that has been around for thousands of years.
One that has been strengthened and promised to those who belong in that little niche.
If you are
a.) Male
b.) Christian
c.) White
d.) Straight,
e.) well off financially
you have been promised all kinds of goods all of your life by this culture. Especially the concept that women will fall at your feet, have sex with you when you want, that you deserve a sexy woman, that you deserve rewards from women.
Feminism is in direct contradiction with that.
This is a culture that also defines people a certain way.
Men are to behave like this.
Women are to behave like that.
For some people, changing this prescription is terrifying.
Not to mention, the whole concept of being able to hold back people because they don't hit all of those marks (white, male, straight, Christian) kind of pisses people off.
You're knocking out generations of long held racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and religious bigotry.
I don't know if you've noticed, but racists don't like movements against racism.
Homophobics don't like movements against homophobia
Xenophobia people don't like movements against bigotry towards immigrants.
Religious bigots hate movements ending bigotry towards religion that isn't their own.
Poverty haters don't like anything that helps the impoverished.
Sexists don't like anything that empowers women.
Feminism covers all of that.

I agree with you 100% and don't understand it. Deep down I think it's really just some of the good ole boys wanting all the perks of lording it over women so will attack anything that gets in the way of stopping that.

Mainstream feminism is the ideology and practice of hating men and boys. That's what the deal is.

If you can't see how a gender biased ideology promoting rape culture hysteria is a problem toward solving gender based issues, then it's not worth giving a better answer.
