Cutting hair makes it grow back differently?

My hair is very long and a beautiful consistency. I used to have short hair about up to my chin but decided to grow it years ago and I never cut it short again. Anyway, I was thinking of cutting it short again but I'm terrified because everyone including myself loves my long hair but I also like how it looks short.

My mom told me a story about her sister who had beautiful, long, thick hair and her grandmother cut it shoulder length and it never grew back the same way. It became coarse, frizzy, and never really grew the same. Is there a possibility of that happening to me if I cut it short?

    HALFWAY truth.

Hormone's has a lot to do with it.

My youngest son's hair went from curly when he was a baby, once I snipped the curls they become straight until he turned 16, then his hair got curly like his dad again.

Pregnancy & childbirth, can also change the texture of your hair. My SIL always had frizzy pouffy curly hair, by the time she had her 3rd son, her hair was silky, shiny, soft & smooth AND STRAIGHT. Then she got pregnant again, and her hair went back to curly, frizzy & pouffy hair.
