If a new MLB franchise was awarded to Indiana, what would the nickname be?

A group in the 1980s tried to buy the Twins, A's or Pirates and move them to Indy, and already had the name picked out: the Indianapolis Arrows.

I'm going to assume it had something to do with Indy's minor league team, which has been the Indianapolis Indians since 1902, coupled with "Indians" already being taken by Cleveland.

Other possibilities would be Hoosiers (IU doesn't own the name), something about Indy's nickname as Circle City (the Circles? Ugh. Although apparently, the Colts can very loosely be traced back to a team from the 1920s called the Dayton Triangles), maybe the ABC's (a pretty good N.egro-league team from Indiana, featuring Oscar Charleston, an Indy native), or something incorporating Indy's racing history (Checkers, from the checkered flag, was the name of an old minor league hockey team).

Indianapolis has had two minor league hockey teams called the "Capitals," and Indy is (a) Capital City.

Or maybe something about limestone (the Quarrymen?), or Crossroads (from state nickname).

Indiana Hoosiers is by far the best nick name. Indianapolis 500's is another. Indiana Twisters or Tornados is another if it has to be named with something relevant to Indiana. Other wise I like the Indiana or Indianapolis Comets.

well.. the Indiana state bird is a Cardinal and the minor league team in Indy is the Indians.... we know both of those are out...

I vote for "The Joneses"...

Probably Hoosiers or Indians.
