I have quite a few movies on my computer hard drive, all in either .avi or .mp4 format. I want to burn these to a DVD, and be able to use them on a Samsung DVDplayer connected to our TV.

Which means converting these files to vob. So far, cannot find a decent and free converter. Wondershare makes a good converter but you have to pay for full version.

I burned a movie (in .avi format) from the hard drive of my computer onto a DVD+R, using CDburnerXP software. It plays fine on the computer afterward using Windows Media Player. But the same newly burned DVD will not play on a Samsung DVD player connected to our TV. Does anyone know why this is? I am stumped how to get around this problem.

Trying to come up with 2 sports nicknames for the city of Baltimore. One is a NBA basketball team, the other is an NHL hockey team. Will award a best answer. Looking for names that are not negative and somehow reflect something about the city or state of Maryland.

I am the oldest of 3 siblings in the family. Our mother recently moved back to our hometown "to be close to the kids" again. The youngest sibling, my sister, is 23. She decided to have a very elaborate and expensive dinner for our mother, that doubled as a birthday party for her. I was invited, and was told not to bring anything. I decided to at least show up with a birthday card, and also purchased a small shopping card as a gift. The meal was at my brothers house, and it went well. But after getting home, I received a text message from my sister, demanding I pay 1/3 of the cost ($150) of the meal. This was upsetting, as there had been no communication beforehand that I was expected to help with the cost. My sister also refuses to acknowledge the gift card I purchased towards the cost of the meal, or what she feels I owe. I am not a cheap person, but feel it should have been communicated beforehand that my siblings expected me to pitch in. And shouldn't they acknowledge the gift card in some way? Wonder what others think or would do in this situation?

Would play in Memphis, Need something creative related to Tennessee, Memphis, or Mississippi river. We came up with Deltas and Moonshiners but both seem lame. (We thought of "Smokies" but already taken - it's the Cubs AA team.)

Doing some baseball history/reference. The Washington Senators baseball team played at American League Park in 1901 and 1902. The following year (1903) they moved to National Park which would later become Griffith Stadium. Griffith Stadium was demolished in 1965. But I cannot find any information on what became of American League Park. Assume it was demolished - looking for the year, or any information.

Manual says use a damp soft cloth - no cleaners. Have tried this many times - it always leaves behind a haze and streaks. Wondering what other people do/use.

Indy 500 finished around 3:15 eastern time. He just landed in Charlotte at 5:30 for tonights race. How did he get there so fast?

I have a good sized amount of this stuff and want to get rid of it all. Includes old hard drives that are damaged, broken video cards, old zip disks and floppy disks, and a couple of older cell phones. A few computer cables as well. Concerned about someone stealing info off any of these, particular the disks and phones. Would prefer to find a recycling center for it all, but wonder how to prevent someone from stealing info. (The phones are old and don't remember how to even turn them on, and/or if data was removed.) There are at least 300+ computer disks here, and no way am I going thru every single one.

Wonder if any safer to toss this stuff in regular trash? Anyone have any insight on this topic?

Need simple to use mp3 bitrate converter. Can be freeware or shareware - willing to pay for a license as long it's not full of adware. Software has to be able to allow selecting multiple mp3 files at the same time - and converting all to a particular bitrate. In most cases, from 128 or 192 bitrates to 320. Any mp3 experts out there - with knowledge and/or recommendation of a bitrate converter... please post direct URL if you have it.....

Just discovered I owe the IRS for tax year 2013, due to indicating "2" as number of exemptions on my W4.

If I fill out a new W4, and reduce exemptions to "1", (which should reduce likelihood that I owe the IRS next year) - how does that affect my current monthly paychecks? Would those paychecks be smaller, or larger?

Renting a home, the shower has been leaking water into the basement for months every time the shower is used. Landlord refuses to fix. I can see what looks like white and a little black mold forming on the floorboards where the water drips into basement. What are my options?
