Is Wall Street still selling collateralized debt obligations like mortgage backed securities?

Update:

And if so, can you still buy credit default swaps against them?

Many of the same items that caused the mortgage crisis are still being used today.

Sub prime loans are still being offered and that means mortgage backed securities are still be sold. Although the rates must be sky high in order for people to buy them.

You can buy Credit Default Swaps

Now I do believe most collateralized debt obligations are being bought by the government for student loans which will be the next meltdown.

The government owns 90% of all student loan debt and obama is allowing student loans to be given to anyone for any reason even to buy food and pay rent while attending college.

It is only a matter of time before tax payers will be forced to bail out student loans.
