SURVEY: AMD vs. Intel CPU?

If either were "poor" they wouldn't be in business! Intel has the edge with performance, AMD has the edge with built in graphics. Since there is PLENTY of CPUs to choose from from mild to wild there will be a CPU for anyones taste! When I build a machine for high end gaming or demanding business I use Intel, when I need a "general" machine for the guy who wants good performance WITHOUT a high price I use AMD

If your just starting off or "just getting your feet wet" go with AMD...then when you "GROW" you can go up to a more powerful Intel.

I will list 5 good reasons for intel CPUs. Better performance for games and applications (high end). Lower power consumption. Generates less heat. More upgradable and motherboards to choose from. Most come with integrated graphics.

I will list 5 good reasons for amd CPUs. Better performance for games and applications (low end). Lower price. More likely to be capable of being overclocked. Their integrated graphics (the series that has integrated graphics) alone has better performance and you can even run them in dual graphics mode for amd's discrete GPUs. Less motherboards to choose from.

CPU

- Super low end: Intel Pentium G3258 (would not recommend a amd althon).

- Low end: FX-6300 (would not recommend a intel i3 series) (note: if you plan on getting a amd gpu then I would run it with a amd a series cpu to run them both in dual graphics).

- Mid end: i5-4690k (would not recommend a amd fx 8 core series).

- High end: i7-4790k (amd does not have anything as nearly as good).

- Super high end: A intel LGA2011-3 cpu socket, 6-8 core i7 series is perfered.

I personally prefer intel CPU.

Both have metrits, and both have drawbacks... on the cheap end I'll take an AMD and clock the snot out of it.. on the expensive end I'll take an Intel and clock the snot out of it.

I would go Intel. They tend to be more expensive, but are generally more powerful in my opinion.
