gastric bypass and hypothyroidism?

Update:

I just started my journey for gastric bypass but was just told by my pcp that even after my thyroid was ok in February that is has stopped working and I need to go on synthroid. Will this hurt my chances of getting approved for my gastric bypass. dont know why my question didnt post. but here it is now

    The doctors will want you to have normal thyroid levels (by taking Synthroid) before they will operate. So it will be a problem if you do not go on the medication.
