Dog consuming rat poison?
I'm pretty sure I'm just being paranoid but I lovey dog. I guess I have nice in my basement and I really just can't stomach the idea of hurting an animal (nomatter how pesky) so I went to Walmart to buy a live trap instead. I also bought my dog a toy. Well the toy touched the trap box. I assume the box for the trap has probly been in contact with poison packages so is there any way that my dog could get sick from even trace amounts of rat poison? I doubt it but I hear horror stories about children picking up rat poison packages and getting sick from just residue on packages.

From what I know about the live traps, there is no poison. It's a container that the rat cant get out of. Read the label. If it does contain rat poison, wash the toy in hot water and soap. If it's plastic, run it through the dishwasher on the top rack.

I agree that live traps doesn't have poison. Your dog might have been poisoned from the toy you bought him. You can sterilize the toy first before giving it to him.

if you think he consumed rat posion take him to the vet right now! The posion causing the dog to lose the abilty to clot so even a slight bump could cause him internal bleeding he may bleed from the nose too if he gets excited keep a real close eye on him
