I want to buy my daughter an Ipad for Christmas, but there are so many options, I want it to be a surprise, but know very little and there are so many choices.

The best iPad currently is the iPad Air 2. If you want a more portable tablet, then pick up the iPad mini with retina display. If you want something cheaper then get the iPad Air (1st Generation).

Absolutely, it's called the iphone, and comes in 16gb, 32gb not to mention 64gb flavours, with and / or without 3G

I prefer the Mini because it matches the Air in everything, except it is less expensive and more portable. The retina display looks excellent too.
