How do I back out of a movie date politely?

So I stupidly asked this girl out to the movies, because I was getting a vibe that she was interested. Well, turns out that she is in a relationship, and would like to go only as friends - totally misread it, but stuff happens. Anyways, in the heat of the moment, I said that that was okay, and that I'd figure out a movie time tomorrow and let her know. The truth is though, that while I find her attractive and she has an endearing, funny personality, I don't really feel any interest in going with her anymore, since she is already dating and I've already been shut down. How can I say politely that I'm not interested anymore without being rude about it?

Thanks in advance

- Kris

Lady Marissa's answer #2 is right, although it's a bit extreme.

Call her and tell her you have been thinking about this and you cannot see the movie with her, not even as friends because you don't want to disrespect her boyfriend by taking a girl alone to a movie. It's just something you're not comfortable with.

If she tries to say something that makes it sound acceptable to go to the movie with her, politely tell her again that you don't feel right about it since she has a boyfriend and he is lucky to have her.

That's it. It doesn't matter what she says after that. The movie date is NOT going to happen. If she gets angry, simply say goodbye and hang up. Laugh it off later.

Would you want your girlfriend seeing a movie alone with some other dude? That is totally disrespectful and disloyal. You stay far away from her.

    Hi Kris...

    You have TWO choices...

    1) Take her this ONE time & then just do NOT ask her out EVER again!!! IF she'll cheat on him, she'll cheat on you!!!

    2) Tell her the truth...call her up & tell her that now that you've thought about her being in a relationship that it has killed your hardon & you are NO longer interested in going out with her. I've NEVER felt that being HONEST is being rude!!!

Dude she's into you. I mean she's going to a movie alone with you and she has a boyfriend. Worst case scenario you guys become good friends.
