My 17 + 10 month old son is wasting his life.?

Even though he's a good human being, doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't use drugs, has a steady relationship with his GF (no sex yet by his choice). He rejects studying or any other activity except videogames & social web sites. Any recomended literature on this matter?

There is no clear answer for you about your son - we had 4 children, adopted, and did not permit any of them to play video games, we home schooled. The 5 th we did, a little at first then it go to be almost an obsession and was a major reason of his failure academically, etc. He did build 2 computers , but finally it came to push or shove. We cut the internet out, and it was, ''Get a job, a GED, and pay for your own internet and games, or - you - don't - play . We simply told him we did not approve of video games, we were not happy with his under achieving , and we were not going to enable him to continue like this. No fight, no anger, we just did it. He ranted and moved out, then later moved back in as a changed young man. He works now but has yet to get his GED so he can continue in some kind of career, but he's tired o flow paying jobs so this is incentive enough and he is again on his way. When he was holed up in his bedroom day after day, not listening to us, finally we took the door off the hinges and hid it in the shed. That got him out of his room . Again, no fighting, no anger, we just did it. He knew why. Enough is enough. Good luck with your child. I believe video games have destroyed much of this generation academically and made a lot of people very rich who don't give a d a * m about or kids or how they are growing up with violence as their role model. Input = Output Always has, always will. We regret the day we ever allowed a video game to come into our home. The elder 4 are great, never really played and don't now that they could, they see video players as lazy, stupid, uneducated people wasting their lives.

He needs to find something he's passionate about, whatever it may be. If all he does is play video games and surf the net then he should look into that as a career. He should also have a normal job too.

I'm 23 and similar except I do drink and burn. I'm trying to develop video games now and wish I started sooner. The thing that would've really helped me was if my parents, friends, family, co workers and everyone would stop telling me to go back to school or get this job, or say "why don't u do this?"

Support what he is passionate about.
