Will the Suns gravity ever pull Voyager spacecraft back or will it head straight out into the universe forever?

Voyager is moving faster than escape velocity from the Sun, meaning it will continue moving away forever.

Voyager is moving too fast for the sun's gravitational pull, therefore it will continue moving away.

  • Both are beyond the escape velocity of the solar system, as is the New Horizons probe. They will assume orbital paths independent of the sun around the galaxy's center.

They used the gravity of the planets to slingshot Voyager out of the Solar System and into interstellar space.

It will continue moving away from us, until it hits something. That could be a VERY long time, space is a BIG place.
