Your opinion, or mind doesn't change reality at all, unless we put hands to it to change it.

By any other name a rose still smells like a rose.

You could call it a cracker, but it remains a rose.

No. I believe that Fact remains Fact - regardless of our thoughts and feelings about it. The Truth is NOT the same as Fact.

Facts exist outside the mind. The Truth exists only in the mind. Facts are independent of humans....and how humans interpret those Facts is The Truth. Here's an example of how it works:

Fact: General Custer died at the Battle of Little Bighorn fighting the Sioux.

The Truth: Custer was a national hero who died defending the United States.

Also the Truth: Custer was an oppressive villain who slaughtered natives without just cause.

Yes. There are truths that do not change regardless of one's opinion of them. There are also truths that do change like for instance it may be true that my favorite color is blue. However, that could change to red. Yet, it may be always true that my watch is blue regardless if someone color blind is looking at it.

Now a person tells the truth when what he says matches what he thinks. When a person says the opposite of what he thinks he would be lieing. However, what a person says and thinks could match each other, but still be false if it does not correspond to the object in question. In other words they may believe what they are saying is true about something but it may actually be false. Which brings us to the idea that what a person thinks must match reality in order for the thinking to be considered true. And if it doesn't then it is false. And this truth about it is unchanged as long as the reality it corresponds to is unchanged. It's truth does not depend on my thinking about it.

For example God's existence does not depend on my belief or lack of belief. However, my belief could be true or false depending if it matches the reality.

Yep. That's the beauty of science, my friend. They care only about finding the truth, not about WHAT the truth is.

Truth is often entangled in subjective judgments. There is not really an absolute truth.

Truth is concerned only with facts!

Truth doesn't give a pinch of sh!t about anyone's "opinion"!

Absolutely. God's truth is absolute, and Jesus, who is God, is the way, the truth and the life.

That is what we mean by 'truth'

  • of course yes, truth will never be lies
