Is tagging in school books a misdemeanor?

When I was a freshmen, many years ago, I was tagging on school books. I got caught, was arrested, taken finger prints, and awaited for my parents to pick me up a couple hours later.

I had to go on probation and did community service.

Once that was done with, my probation officer said it was sealed.

I never found out if it was a misdemeanor. What do you think
