Why do most religions want to restrict women's rights ?

For many tens of centuries since the matriarchal societies have died out , society has been patriarchal. The male gender wrestled power from women by creating the concept of "the devil".The physical strength of men was also an issue. What we are living under now are the repercussions from the early male dominated societies.

Also, since many religions believe in the typical Adam/Eve story, they blame women for many of the problems we now face. It is not something most people would admit but it lies under the surface of things. The hierarchical mature of man made institutions leads to the thirst for power and men , having been in charge for so long are still making the rules.

well, I guess that's because of religions leaders are men.... even the past Christians used to believe that women are some kind of evil .

It is unclear that religious truths when stripped to essentials do that. Religious practices in patriarchal societies do, but feminist theology is a viable field that prescribes how this historical bias can be tempered when studying religions.

religions rarely value human rights and always support manipulation by fear and condemnation......religion is a plague of destructive ignorance on humanity.....
