What would the properties be of a lens that's the shape of a red blood cell?

    Hi, Iridflare.

Yeah, the centre of the lens would equate to a biconcave lens - but the outer edges have positive curvature . . .

The double concave lens has a virtual focus on the object side, a tiny spot from which the rays diverge out on the image side. If you apply there you'd see a tiny image.

    Google biconcave lens.
