Government penalizes Employers?
Someone very close to Me has been unemployed for a very long time. It is very frustrating receiving rejection letter after rejection letter or no notice at all. I feel these employers should be shaken up and take on a different approach in hiring. My greatest desire is to see the U.S. Government step in and make these sorry employers who keep overlooking the long term unemployed, pay a stiff penalty or heafty unemployment tax( that money could be used to pay the unemplyoyed), until They get the people that have been out of work for 6 months or longer, back on the job. Put those people to work first. I would like to know what You think on this important matter ?? Thanks

Employers already pay 100% of the unemployment benefits paid to unemployed workers and there is a credit for hiring the long term unemployed. If the worker is qualified for an open job they have the same chance of getting it as an equally qualified applicant.

I agree that the long-term unemployed are a significant problem. For one, it is always easier to get a job when one already has a job. Second, many of the long-term unemployed are people who never got unemployment in the first place because they quit their job for a wide variety of reasons. It is a huge myth that unemployment benefits help all people who are unemployed; many people who are unemployed do not qualify for unemployment. As a consequence being unemployed becomes a vicious cycle where employers do not want to hire and the unemployed can't get hired.

Oh they pay, ALOT. The thing is we've got Obamacare expense. We have the highest taxes in the world. So if the Government wasnt Taxing them to death, they could hire 5 instead of one. Liberals love taxing businesses, until you canr find a job. FACT!

I think you are misguided. Government is the problem. Government is not the solution. If the government got out of the way of free enterprise, the economy would pick up and more jobs would be created.
