my car red hot exhaut after runing 5 mil my car toyota avalon 2000. The engine then idles/run rough and lost of power. When I check under the hood, the first catalytic converter is glowing red. the last time i check the check engine codes, I remember seeing miss fire in cylinder 2,4, and 6.
This happened about 6 months ago, I've changed the VVT valve by the intake and now it is happening again.

Too much unburned fuel can eventually ruin the cat(s). An old Ford pickup I used to have at some point started running very rich, but I had to drive 100 miles and managed to get home. I replaced the sooty spark plugs and it still ran rich, so I looked around and discovered fuel in a vacuum line (blown diaphragm in fuel pressure regulator). So it had be sucking raw fuel into the engine.
The point is about a year later it started running weakly like it had a potato in the exhaust. When I opened the hood the exhaust manifolds were glowing bright reddish. Apparently running very rich earlier ruined the catalytic converters and they eventually plugged up.

The "VVT valve"??? Great work wasting your time and money replacing random parts, genius!! And "glowing red" should have been your first clue to take it in IMMEDIATELY to the dealer or other competent shop before you blew the engine. Good job ruining a fine car, dummy.

Sounds like you jumped timing on the bank #2 camshaft, (Front Camshaft) remove the timing cover and verify the timing belt is aligned properly, when was the last time it was replaced?

Fix the misfire first. Probably need to replace the coils. The convertor is red because it has unburned fuel.
