    The Hebrew word for yes is ken. It's pronounced exactly as it looks, so like the name Ken. In Hebrew script this is כן .

    What Erik Van Thienen wrote can be used as "yes" but only in certain contexts, notably when you're really excited and happy. Like getting a 100 on an exam or making a basketball shot. It wouldn't be used for mundane answers or things you're not happy about, for example if you were asked if you lost your keys and did. Literally yesh means "there is" , but it looks and sounds a bit like yes (since it's "yesh").
