Chris Rock asked me to take responsibility for my ancestors so were there German slave owners in America?

Link to the interview conducted last Sunday: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/dec/1/chr...

Update:

Harwarda:

I did work on my family tree a few years back using a variety of sources including Ancestry.com along with Familysearch.com and never found any slaves listed in Census records from 1790 forward. Slaves were included in the Census records because they counted as 3/5ths of a person for Congressional districting purposes.

My g,g,grandfather fought for the North along side his 15-year-old cousin at Gettysburg who lived out the rest of his days in an Army Home due to severe injuries.

Do any of our ancestors who were killed in the civil war fighting for the freedom of blacks, get any type of special credit? Considering more whites died in that war then blacks brought into this country as slaves, has got to be worth something

Yes, there were German slave owners. You can go on Ancestry.com and trace your specific ancestors back. But I think he was talking in more general terms. We can't just shrug off the hundreds of years of discrimination and oppression the African Americans have suffered. Even if we personally didn't do it, we didn't demand better treatment by the government, business, police, etc.

  • My family came from Germany in the 1870's and have been working harder than slaves ever since. So I refuse to take blame and insist everyone is responsible for their own place in this world.

Yes, Germans migrated to the Middle Colonies, where slavery was popular. I agree with him in that respect, and in the respect that us white people still benefit from what our ancestors did, but I hate how hypocritical is. He goes on some racist rant about how there's a difference between black people and n***ers, and then he expects the country to listen to non-stop whining about racism against black people from an anti-black racist.

As soon as Chris Rock takes responsibility for his ancestors who captured other Africans and sold them into slavery to the European slave traders.

  • I don't think Chris Rock was asking you personally

I have and I forgive them for being in Italy at the time and not even owning a slave.

These quotations from Chris - who obviously sees that things like the Ferguson riot are the result of a stupid feud between blacks and the police, not to mention crime - go unnoticed.

    I wonder why.

You are making a big deal out of what are some pretty superficial comments on the part of Rock.

Any white person with a shred of self respect would never contribute another dime to that racist bastard.
