The entire scientific community has found no evidence of the existence of a god.
We have tried to find some evidence for such a being and come up empty and there are literally hundreds of books related to this very subject.
See the difference between atheists and religious people is this.
Religious people read one old book and declare it to be true, atheists study all the evidence we have and come to one conclusion or another and change our mind to what the evidence actually say.
That is not an opinion that is called using your brain.

You make a fundamental error: Atheists do not necessarily claim to KNOW that gods definitely don't exist. We might make that claim, but it's not necessary to make that claim to lack a belief in gods.
Are leprechauns mentioned in science books or in the Bible? Is that a requirement to lack belief in them?
Here are some common forms of atheism:
1. Claiming that it's impossible to know whether or not gods exist. Since this is something other than belief in gods, it's a form of atheism.
2. Withholding judgement on both the claim that gods exist and the claim that they do not exist. Perhaps such a person is waiting for more evidence for either claim. This position, again, is different than believing the claim that gods exist, so they are an atheist.
3. Believing (based on the evidence, or lack thereof) that gods probably don't exist, but still open for new evidence to change their mind. Such a person does not claim to KNOW that their belief in the non-existence of gods is true, yet they obviously don't believe that gods exist. I don't know for a fact, but I'm guessing most atheists have a similar position. It is my position.
4. Claiming to know for certain that no gods exist. Of course this excludes belief in the claim that gods exist, and is thus a form of "gnostic atheism" which is different than the above examples which could be described as "agnostic atheism." Another word for this type of atheist is an "antitheist" or an "untheist."

Why don't you tell me why you don't believe in the Egyptians gods, or leprechauns, or shape-shifting coyotes. Surely you need a book about them in order to know about their non-existence. Or is it all just your opinion and nothing else LOL?

???
So are you telling me Santa is real? There is no book proving his non-existence so he must be real then.
Oh by the way, you can't disprove a negative. Just thought you should know that. It would explain why there is no book disproving god or Santa.

The complete lack of evidence for any gods.
There aren't any books about magical flying pasta, either, but we know that no such thing exists because of....again....the complete lack of evidence for magical flying pasta.

Yes, what you provided there is certainly an opinion based on nothing.
No doubt about it.
