Why do young teenagers (13-15) think they're depressed?

Many of the young teens I've spoken with claim to be depressed or to be bipolar, without having seen a real psychiatric or psychological professional. They want to cut themselves and post pictures of it on social media. They want to tell their friends and brag. Do they think pretending to have a mental illness will make them more popular or do they just want to wallow in self pity?

I think if they're claiming to have depression and only ever talk about their self-diagnosed depression, that they might actually have a real mental disorder (but definitely not depression).

That's what I wonder all the time. And actually being someone who suffers from depression, that makes me mad and it hurts me. I think they just like the attention it comes with it. But they don't know that those who really suffer, don't get as much attention as they are. Like me, I don't get attention and I am perfectly okay with that because I don't want the attention.

I believe it's a human nature. We all go through different situations and challenges as we grow up, and most of the teens couldn't handle the fast transition. They need guidance and peers to talk to. Some are caused by traumatic experiences like if something bad happened to them at the past. That gives them emotional breakdown and they're causing a lot of trouble for others, even for themselves.

Some its usually a phase, but for others they are clinically depressed.Mostly due to social pressures of society and the around them.

It is what is called wrong notion or misconception. It is not due to fate. It is due to wrong calculations with a negative, poor, weak, bad, wrong or evil mind.
