Does asking for baby names on YA discourage creativity?

No, I don't think so. It's not as if people come onto this site, ask one single question and then VOILA that's the name they're going to give their baby.

In my opinion, using this site actually encourages people to think MORE creative when it comes to naming their children, because they are exposed to a wider range of names and are shown how to consider their choices from all angles e.g. nicknames, popularity, honouring family/friends, initials, connotations, timelessness, meanings etc. Generally, I've found people on this site to be very helpful and I'm unsure how some parents name their kids without conducting as much research as we do!

This site introduces names that Parents otherwise might not come in contact with.

Sure there are baby name books and other websites, but they are minus the advise and opinions that are shared by such a diverse group of people. That's what makes this experience so unique.

It can foster creativity. Thinking about names is always a good thing and YA is like an anonymous focus group. Plus it's fun.

No, it doesn't. Many people get inspiration & ideas from questions asked, answers given.

I don't think so, it encourages thought about a name or to be opened up to a different name that a couple might not of thought of and is actually perfect for what they were looking for.

And those of us who answer gets our brains thinking.
