I need help with a file conversion.?

About 20 years ago, I had a Smith Corona word processor. I have some spreadsheet data saved that I created with that machine that I'm trying to access. The file type is .ssf, but I can't find anything that will convert the files into something I can use. Does anyone know of a tool that can convert these file to Excel format?

I think you are out of luck. I Googled ".ssf" and found that ".ssf" has been used lots of times by lots of different programs. So the Google search turns into a bramble patch full of misleading info.

If you have a printout, just type it in again. That will in the end be the only way.

Update: (1) back then, spreadsheets didn't do fancy formulae, so with any luck you will be able to recreate the calculations just from the numbers

    (2) you could get yourself the kind of file editor that will open any file regardless of format, just so you can see inside - helps you remember what the thing does. One such editor would be VIM for Windows http://www.vim.org/download.php
