Does power corrupt and why? Please give me examples?

Power can corrupt for various reasons.

For some people when they get power they find that they enjoy having control over people and/or events. Look at Rev Jones and Jones Town.

For some they believe they have an idea that they believe is the only correct one. Look at Hitler and WWII

For some they get power and wish to keep it. Look at Joesph Stalin or other communist leaders.

Absolute power (with no oversight, no system of checks and balances, no consumer protections) is what the GOP creates when they snake their way into power and embark on their misguided nation-destroying, corporate-colluding "smaller government" poppycock, a.k.a., DEREGULATION. If you are a CEO of a for-profit industry or company and there are no rules in place to structure your choices or behaviors, would you continue to be fair to your workers? Would you begin to let GREED take over your decision-making processes? If you, as a GOP-deregulated CEO, had no consequences whatsoever for putting personal profits above all else (giving yourself an outrageous $65 MILLION annual salary, as did Ken Lewis of Bank of America, for example, and another $32 MILLION in self-awarded unearned "bonus" for that same year---the year you BANKRUPTED your institution due to subprime lending using other people's money), would you be corrupted?

I'd say money corrupts. We got to get it out of politics. I'll let the cartoon be my example.

Basically it means that in order to have, gain, or keep power, people will do immoral and even criminal things.
