Your sitting down at a group lunch?

Your sitting down at a group lunch, and you get up to get a drink, and leave your bag on your seat, and then someone that arrives late thinks there was no one sitting at that seat and chucks your bag aside and sits there.

The question is not what you would do, although you can say so, but the question is how often does this happen these days?

That does not happen often. If your bag was there, you had saved your place.

    1) You would be within your rights to confront the person. 2) The people that are there should have spoken up and said you were there. You would have been in your rights to get verification. The person should have seen your bag and asked the other people sitting there if the seat was available.

The only way that I can see that you might have been in the wrong is if you were gone for a long time. If that were the case, the person could have assumed that you forgot your bag and just sat there. If you have your fill of food and then take off for while, you can't expect your place to be held all that time. Was that you just got up to get a drink or something like that or did you leave for a half hour and then come back?

Not happened to me but I would say to the person "That is my seat. You moved my bag" Wait for them to get the hint. If not, tell them you would like to sit down.
