18 years old and still plays pretend??
I'm an 18 year old male and I still enjoy playing pretend. Sometimes I like to think I'm a pro baseball or football player and I go as far as writing out my stats and contracts. I even wear jerseys. I also have a ton of toy cars that I arrange in my imaginary driveway. If that isn't strange enough, I'm actually in the army and I still enjoy playing "soldier" when I'm at home. I've got WWII uniforms I dress up in and I even go camping in the woods as if I were watching the line in 1944 Bastogne.
I obviously don't tell people this and I don't think that there's anything wrong with me, but how abnormal is this behavior? I'm very serious and mature about other things, but in this aspect of life I'm not.

I'm 21, I used to do it all the time when i was younger but i stopped when i moved in with my boyfriend. Now that we're not together anymore i do it all the time, it makes me feel happier and just for a while i can pretend my life is okay. I suppose i pretend during the day as well, at college i pretend to be happy and that everything is okay. Everything isn't okay. Just be careful x

It is not uncommon at all. See for example everybody that goes to comicon or to civil war reanactment. I personally believe that everybody had the inclination to want to do something like this but they are pressured be preconceived notions of how society will look at them. Everybody has a child inside and its fine and healthy to pretend. The only place where it become unhealthy is when a person starts to not differentiate between reality and this pretending state. I think pretending is important because it also helps create dreams and aspirations in some cases.
