Why do football players shoot into an open net instead of dribbling the ball into the net?

I am sure as long as it is not offside your goal is counted since it was not a foul. Why do players shoot in? Just walk it in and your chances of missing is lower.

They do it out of humbleness and respect for the opponent team. It sure is great to watch a player with good footwork and scoring a cool empty net goal, but all professional players hardly do it. Balotelli once tried to score an empty back heel goal and missed and made a fool out of himself, he was later substituted!

Agree with Mohammad but would like to add a point that if they dribble it in then there is a higher chance of a defender getting back and tackling them.
