What would happen if I don t fix my noisy rear Differential ? I ran it low on oil for 1 yrs .?

2005 Dodge Durango with 134,000 miles 2wd . Can the rear differential affect the transmission ?

    The rear differential will not affect the transmission at all. You only have to worry that the differential will fail sometime when you have to be someplace, or when you are in the middle of nowhere. If it ran for a year, and you keep oil in it now, then I guess you mostly have to worry about the noise driving you crazy
