Why doesnt my HD tv show 1080p?

Im watching a chennel that's capable of HD. but it only shows it in 720p, why doesn't it show in fully HD? 1080p? Help please

    You are feeding it a 720p signal. Connect a Blu-ray player if you want to see 1080p flash up on the screen.

    Maybe the channel is only 720p, which is still HD. I'm not for sure, but that seems like that's the issue.

    no broadcast is in 1080p, only 1080i. check your cable box settings make sure its set to 1080i output.
