Is this considered a lie?

Is telling someone a lie, then quickly telling the truth a joke or a lie?

    That is going to depend on a) the recipient of the lie/truth and b) the substance/the subject of the lie/truth. People respond differently. Some may be insulted or angry, others may laugh it off no harm done.

    You said it yourself. It was a lie. Somewhere along the way you changed your mind, but you started off with lie. Matthew 15:19 "Out of the heart come wicked reasonings..."

    The intent is humour and not deception so it would be a joke.
