glaciers don't even stop volcanoes. Obviously, any addition of ice will decrease the total temperature, but the question becomes one of how much ice would you need to stop the volcano? and the answer is "a glacier's amount and then some". Until you add a very large amount of ice, the volcano won't decrease much in temperature (not measurably so). There is simply a lot of mass and a lot of heat involved, and you would need an equivalent mass of cold to even start to change things.

Volcanoes blow through glacial ice and lava flows can just push it away (there are some lovely photos from Veniaminof concerning that) so...ice doesn't ruin much.
Ice doesn't extinguish subglacial eruptions in Iceland. The ice melts and flows elsewhere and/or contacts magma and is ejected into the atmosphere as tephra. This is why airlines don't like subglacial eruptions in Iceland.

Before trying little piece of advice.
You can do that but it is quite similar to trying to stop diarrhoea with your pinky finger.
Aince the lava coming from underneath the volcanic canal has enormous amount of heat, ice will make a very small effect. But you are not that bad because volcanoes in icy areas such as in iceland, get extinguished by ice around it due to cooling.
