    Dissolution of a solute in a solvent to produce a solution depends on the factors:

    (a) Nature of the solute and Nature of the solvent

    Like dissolves like. This means a polar solute dissolves in a polar solvent. For example, alcohol dissolves in water.

    (b)Temperature

    (c)Pressure

    (d)Concentration

    (e)Rate of dissolution

    This characteristic or ability of a solute dissolving in a definite solvent is known as Solubility.
