In India, under the Hindu law namely the Hindu Marriage Act,1955 and the Hindu Succession Act,1956, at the time of dissolution of marriage and thereafter the wife has no right on the property even of her husband leave aside her right in the property of the parents or other relatives of the husband.
The law does not provide the wife to claim any share in the self acquired property of the husband at the time of divorce, nor she has right in the inheritable property of the husband.
The share of the wife exist only in the property that is jointly owned by both husband and wife even if the property totally purchased by husband but if the name of wife exist in the title of the property she will claim her and get her share in such property.
Property owned exclusively by the parent of husband is their own property neither the son nor his wife any share in that property during the lifetime of the parent, however if the parent dies intestate, namely without leaving a Will with regard to the property than only the son will have one share in that property and daughter in law during the lifetime of her husband will not have any right or share in that property.
