What are the odds that ganglion cyst will go away before surgery?
I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon due to a painful ganglion cyst in the middle finger joint, palm side. The cyst has now started causing numbnes and stiffness so surgery has been scheduled for Monday. I have heard all sorts of stories though about there being a chance of it going away on its own. What are the odds that it will in the next week?

Very low.
About half go away on their own in five years.
Also, some go away with non-surgical treatment, like hitting them really hard.
