If you are looking for a smaller practice amp for a reasonable price, the Blackstar ID 15 is a great choice as is the Yamaha THR10X. These amps are far beyond the Line 6, Peavey VIP and Fender Mustang models, but they also cost more. If you want a less expensive amp, the Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 is your best choice. Of course these 10 - 20 watt amps will have a 10" or smaller speaker which does not do high gain tones as well as a 12" will. You can move up to the 30 - 40 watt models to get a 12". I apologize for the hyperlinks not working, just one more thing YA has screwed up now. You'll need to copy and paste the links.
I personally use the Yamaha THR. Don't let the size of this amp fool you. It is nothing short of incredible in practice amp terms. Also great for jamming to songs/backing tracks since anything you run into the aux input is played in true stereo. It is also a great speaker system for iPods, etc.
