    If you're using Firefox, go into the settings for Plugins, and change the setting for Adobe Flash and Silverlight to "Always ask".

    This way the site will have to ask you if you want to allow that plugin to play the videos. If you say no, or block it, then that plugin won't be allowed to run.

    Yahoo, Facebook, and other sites that abuse videos run much smoother this way.
