jesse made muffins. He gave 1/4 of the muffins to a friend and brought 3/8 of the muffins to school? What fraction of the muffins is left?

    Both fractions need to have a common denominator -- the lower number.

    1/4 is the same as 2/8

    So, he gave 2/8 to a friend and brought 3/8 to school. 2/8 plus 3/8 = 5/8.

    You then need to subtract 5/8 from the total of 8/8.

    It's up to you to find the final answer..
