I have a 2005 Chrysler 300C. The engine malfunction light has been on most of the time since I bought the car last year.?

I have taken the car to my mechanic three times, and there is nothing wrong with the engine. But the light keeps coming on. I have tried disconnecting the batter, but the light comes on shortly after driving it again. When they recalled the gas tank last year, I got the tank replaced. That solved the stalling problem, but the light still stays on. Should I just ignore the light? Anyone else have this problem? What did you do? Thanks.

Update:

Turns out it was two problems: the gas emission regulator and the thermostat. A good mechanic found them and fixed them.

There has to be reasons the "check engine'service engine soon" warning light is on as a trouble code has been set forcing the mechanic to hook up a scan tool to the port under the dash as they have to get definations of whatever set a trouble code.

If the light is on, there certainly is something wrong. if your "mechanic" cant diagnose and fix it, find a new mechanic.
