Should I get new glasses and how much would you wear prescription? I'm 55 years old and this is the change since my last appointment.?

In November of 2013 my script was

OD (right) -1.00 -0.50 090

OS (left) -1.50 -.25 080

In November 2014 my script was

OD -1.00 -.050 090

OS -1.50 ds and blank. Both scripts have an add of +2.50 which seems fine.

I work on a computer 10 hours a night and I sometimes get headaches and I'm wondering if I get the new script if this would help. I can see the computer without glasses but sometimes I have to look at small print where I need them. In closing please don't tell me to watch eyesight improvements videos. I've already tried that and it cost me 4 grand not to wear glasses for 8 to 10 years so no thanks.

Update:

I've been told my optician (in the USA my eye doctor) would be the best person to tell me. I like him and intend to stay with him and he said it was up to me.

There is very little change in your prescription. For most people, the change would not be noticed. I think working on your computer without glasses makes the most sense. You are very well set up to see at the distance most monitors are away without glasses. If you feel like you need glasses on while you work. You might feel this way if it bothers you how you see up close or across the room, I think there are better ideas than filling your new prescription with another pair of regular progressives. Shamir Optics makes two lenses , computer and work space that might meet your needs better than a conventional progressive. Your optometrist or local independent optician can tell you more about this type of lens. I think ordering progressive lenses on line is a bad idea. I think if your old glasses were measured by a professional and the new ones are ordered on line, there is virtually no chance that the new ones will work better even with the prescription update.

It depends on what other conditions your eyes may have, so asking your optician would be the best answer.

The headaches sound like eye strain, so make sure the room has adequate lighting, and while you are working, look away from your computer at objects at different distances (hopefully you are by a window so you can look at objects far away). Try to do that at least once an hour and it'll help reduce/eliminate the headaches.

Also, if you are not aware, there are plenty of places that sell inexpensive glasses, such as zennioptical.com . My last pair (includes frames and lenses) was $25.

Surely your optician is the best person to tell you.
