BOXING: Have we already seen the prime of Juan Manuel Marquez?

I have never seen a boxer get better as he gotten old. I mean forget about Foreman or Bhop, marquez is a totally different kind of specie. This is the fastest, most durable, strongest Marquez I have seen. Is this finaly his prime?

No, I don't believe Marquez is still in his prime. There are a number of fighters at welterweight that I believe could give him a tough fight just by virtue of the fact that they're naturally bigger and younger. He has become more fan friendly since his move to lightweight, but that's because he's lost some of his mobility, which has forced him to stand and trade more than ever before. It's primarily his counterpunching ability, blistering combinations and heart that have kept him in the game this long, but even he realizes he's in the twilight of his career as he's been mulling retirement for the past several years now. He's supposedly been plagued by a knee injury lately which makes his future in the sport uncertain.

I agree, Marquez is getting better with age. The way that he beat Manny and Alverado was very impressive in my opinion. In fact, I wouldn't mind if he take a few more fights because he have more left in the tank.

Yes. His peak was the Pac knockout in 2012. He's been diminished after that.

  • I think so 2012 seems to be the end of his peak. After facing Manny I don't think he's been the same. I think he's got a handful of fights still left in him but I'd like to see him retire instead. He's cemented his legacy as being one of the ATGs pound for pound.
