HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN TO STOP WHEN YOU PULL INTO THE GARAGE?

Update:

What are some ways of keeping from either not pulling the car into the garage far enough... or too far; hit the front wall of the garage, tool boxes, bicycles, the mower, or whatever else might be in front of the car (or truck). ???

I used to live on a hill and I had very little room to back up so with my long old ford station wagon my Mom who used this garage for over 25 yrs told me how to get in without scraping the car doors. Plus our garage was for one car only.

I would come up the hill past the garage and then back down slowly turning the wheel right and as I came around I was able to then be pointed towards the garage and easily and slowly drive in till I see the end of garage and stop.

I have a car port. Kinda like a garage missing a few sides.

I always guess how far to pull in. A few weeks ago I didn't guess well enough and I rammed my truck into a love seat and desk sitting by the wall and pushed them down the stairwell to the basement.

Measure the length of your vehicle, add 6 inches and measure from the closed door to that point on the garage floor. Install a marking stick at that point that can move when the bumper touches it. Either suspend it from the ceiling or attach it to the floor maybe using an adhesive. Just what and how is up to you.

NEVER drive into a garage. Always back in. That way, when you're coming out in a hurry, you can see where you're going and what might be in the way, outside of the door you just opened.

When You find out give My neighbour a call and let Him know. He's 76 and still has never figured it out. You can tell which car is His because it has Duct Tape to keep the Mirrors attached to the Doors.

don't put anything in front of the car and just pull the car in far enough to close the garage door.

either set a tennis ball hanging from the ceiling on a string to touch the windshield or place a board on the floor glued down with silicone adhesive to touch the tire when the car is in the right spot.

My grandmother hung a practice golf ball from the ceiling of her garage with string. She knew that when it hit her hood that she was in far enough.

Never had a problem personally, but I've heard of people hanging something like a Ping-Pong ball or the like from the ceiling so that when it touches the windscreen you're in far enough.

Tye a string onto a small object and hang it from the rafter area where you can see when the car gets up to it and then just stop.
