We are now limited as to how many questions we can answer in a day? When did that start?

There has always been limits at each level.

At one time there were unlimited answers at level 5 and up.

Don't remember when that was changed exactly but for the newest limits it was about the time the green format was changed.

You can see the Levels limits from 2012 here

    https://web.archive.org/web/20120111093529/http://...

The limits were lowered in 2013

    https://web.archive.org/web/20130709061251/http://...

At level 4 you can ask 20 questions and answer 160 questions a day.

That daily limit is the same from level 4 to level 7.

There has been a limit for as long as I can recall - and I have been doing this for several years now.

That started when Answers was first set up back in 2005

It's always been around....Level 1 ....smallest amount .....Level 2.....few more and so on. It was only when I got to Level 7 that it was unlimited.....then I managed to delete my account so now back to Level 5.....don't know what the number is because I don't seem to have gone over it.....Mo

There have always been limits in the past until you reached L-5 when there were none, but a year or so it was changed.

The limit is based on level and has always been there.
