  • Can you tell me the rhyme and reason for this statement?

We love our neighbors because doing so is one way of showing we love God. God loves you, and thus by serving you, we serve Him. We show you the same love He has for you, because that love is wonderful and needs to be shared.

Without God's love, what motivation does ANYONE have to serve anyone else? Guilt? Feels? Community service? The chance to hold a debt over someone's head? Does any of that really matter in the end?

It doesn't make sense to me. Can you make sense of it and explain what this person is trying to say in this answer?

  • To those who have lost loved ones due to senseless murder have you ever thought of this?

I was one time very afraid when an incident happened from some guy back on leave from Vietnam who looked at me and my boyfriend and said "I could kill you". I was not afraid for my life. I was afraid because I know my parents coming home and finding me dead would be the worst thing I felt could ever happen to them. As you remember your loved ones you lost, also remember that their last concerns were most likely not for themselves, but for you. I hope this helps.

  • What do you think God would say?

In Conversations with God Neale Donald Walsh has the first main core message God has to tell is is "You've got me all wrong". What do you think God's most important core message for man would be? Neale pulled this out of the 3000 pages of his book series as the first core message.

  • If your child died and you buried it in your yard, who would ever know?

Say you had a toddler, and he/she died due to sickness, abuse, whatever. You dig a 6 foot grave and bury the child at night. Since the child hasn't started school, and you simply told everyone he/she went to live with relatives, would there be a way they would ever catch them? Is it illegal to bury your child on your property?

Please don't jump to conclusions that I am going to do this, I just think this is what somebody else did, but no one cares, especially the police.

  • How to safely cross the street? How could this happen?

I like to cross the street to go to the gas station and little store, just walking down my street instead of driving the car. I wait until there are no cars coming from either direction, or any of the side streets. Coming back across the street there were 3 vehicles parked across the street. No one was coming from any direction. As I got to the last lane and almost between the two front vehicles the truck that had tinted windows that was the last one parked pulls out and tries to hit me. I had no way of knowing anyone was in the truck, or that it had been started. I feel like I made a mistake. I have decided never to walk to the store again. How can someone pull out, not see the pedestrian crossing the street, and then when your in front of their vehicle screaming at them not even put on the brakes? I did get the plate number and called the police, but I doubt there is any law that was broken, except careless driving.

  • I have a fire hydrant in front of my house, so it is unfair for me to park in front of the next house?

I have been here 22 years. The neighbor on the one side says he has to park right exactly in the middle in front of his house, not leaving me enough room to park in front of the fire hydrant. Now we have new neighbors moving in the house on the other side, who want to also park exactly in front of their house. I want to park in front of their house, but it still leaves them room to park behind me and still be in front of their house, as there is enough room for two cars, and they only have one. These are young, strong guys. I am an older woman and with my work I have to load and unload many things from the car. That leaves me to have to park way down the street, by the woods., which is scary especially if I have to come in or leave at night.

Many streets in my area are all parked cars and many houses. We only have the three houses on the side where my house is, then the wooded area. Going down the street the other way, if you park there, they will break your windows. So, is it unreasonable for me to take the spot next to my house, leaving clearance for the fire hydrant? Also if I don't take that spot, someone will eventually come and park right in front of the fire hydrant, which puts the whole neighborhood at risk if there is a fire. Sorry so long but I am misunderstood a lot. I am trying to explain everything I need to to get a pertinent answer. There are no driveways. Thanks

  • Why would God put a tree in the garden and say not to eat the fruit?

That's like telling your child not to touch the hot stove, surely they will shouldn't an all wise and powerful God know that?

  • What responsibility does local government have to clean up illegal waste dumps on their property?

There are over 700 tires without rims breeding mosquitoes on city property next to my house. I have given them over five years to do something and they have not. Now I have to go to court because they are targeting my house for code violations like a fence that has been there over fifteen years that they now deemed is 8 inches too high. Yet because of the mosquito problem I was unable to comply in the few weeks they gave me. I have given them years. So, what responsibility do they have? Who fines them for not doing their job? Please any educated good points I have to go to court in an hour! Thanks

  • Do you know why Catholic priests wear black with a white collar?

I met a Catholic priest this evening at a banquet where I was working as a server. I asked a girl there if there was any significance to the wearing of black and white by priests. She called the priest over and said I had a question for him. Amazingly he extended his hand for a handshake and introduced himself...something that is rare for a lowly server! Anyway he said that it is an old tradition because dyes were expensive and that priests usually wore black or white. He said now they wear the black and the white collar is so that the black color doesn't rub off on your neck. Have you heard any other explanations for the black and white? Or do you think this was an educated answer?

  • How to be positive in a negative environment?

I met the nicest cashier the other day, he was so pleasant I just wanted to be like him. I said you are happy today, he said the way I look at it you have a choice at every moment to be pleasant or not I choose to be pleasant. I want to be like him but the 2 days since I met him have been the darkest of my life. I come home and everybody is so negative and hateful gets me in a bad mood, where do I start? I feel that jumping off a cliff would be an easier solution right now.

  • spiritually speaking do we Americans really care about each other?

We are facing possible blackouts and maybe no electricity in Kansas. I was told it is our fault we deserve it for not getting up to emission standards in 5 months when all other states were given 5 years. As individuals what can we do and how are we responsible? We are willing to pay for our electricity delivered safely to our homes. They have not asked the people to help with the funding. I was thinking to move out of the state, but maybe I should move out of the whole country. If they do it in Kansas it is just a start to doing it nationally. Does anyone really care? About the children, about the elderly here? Won't it show the world that we are a weak country, divided against itself? How can people be so heartless?
