When a rear differential is starting to fail it can affect the transmission too ?

    Depending on the failure in the diff, the transmission will either stop spinning internally if the diff seizes up like you're holding the brakes while in drive, or will spin without resistance if the gears in the diff strip.

    I don't think so. In most cases, NO. Differentials don't usually "start to fail".

    You don't say what's wrong.
