Does windows 8.1 come with a virus scan ?

    Windows Defender is provided with Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, which scans for viruses and other types of malware. Windows 8.1 is not bundled with McAfee VirusScan (the most similar to "virus scan") unless the laptop manufacturer has a deal with McAfee.

    Windows Defender is free, built in and works well. It handles anti-malware as well as anti-virus. Auto updates as a part of Windows Update. Easy...

    I don't think so. I installed windows 8.1 here and installed AVGfree2015, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and Ccleaner.
